Extreme Makeover - Baby Edition

The closet; Evan installing the built-ins

The built-ins; Wendy painting the hall ceiling

So here are a few photos of the nursery makeover in progress. We are hoping to finish the drywall (all Evan has to do is sand it after it dries) tomorrow morning and then do some cleaning, priming, painting, and decorating! Evan began installing the cabinets today for the built-in bookshelf. Later, he'll cut a piece of MDF as a countertop and then add bookshelves above it. We'll wrap the crown molding in front of the cabinets so that will help give it a built-in look as well. So glad he's handy with tools...

Some of you may be baffled as to why we had to do all this drywall business: When we moved into the house 3 years ago, it was a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home. We transformed our master closet into a shower to make it the house have 2 full baths and have been without a master closet since then. No problem, until you start adding extra bodies to the house. So now we are reconfiguring ALL of the closets upstairs in order to make the best use of space and to eventually create a master closet. For Oakes's room, we stole a few inches from the coat closet on the wall behind it and created his closet to be a "bump out" - this gave us the space to add the built-in cabinets to the right. We still have to do the closets in the guest room and demo the old closets, but that's later my friends.

  1. Wendy and Evan,
Things look like they are coming along great - careful on that ladder little Mama! Can't wait to see it finished and "occupied!"
    Love to you both,
    Mom
